I'm not a food critic. I'm not a travel blogger. I'm just a guy who refuses to waste a meal or a mile.
How it started
It started the way most things do — with a bad meal and a strong opinion. I'd driven two hours to a place that had been hyped all over social media, waited forty-five minutes for a table, and walked out $150 lighter after a forgettable meal and watered-down drinks that tasted like the bartender had never met a pour spout. That was the last time I let the algorithm pick my dinner.
The No-BS Food Guy was born out of frustration with the noise. Every platform is flooded with paid partnerships, gifted meals, and influencers who've never met a bad plate they wouldn't call 'amazing.' I wanted something different — real reviews, real road trips, real food stops that are actually worth the detour.
New England is my backyard. The White Mountains, the coast, the back roads nobody talks about — I've driven all of it, eaten at the dives and the fine dining spots, swum in the holes and hiked the gorges. This site is the guide I wish I'd had.

The 4-factor test
Every place I cover gets run through the same four questions. No exceptions.

Is it worth the drive?
Distance is a commitment. If I'm putting miles on the truck, the destination better deliver something you can't find closer to home. Scenery, uniqueness, experience — it has to earn the trip.

Is the food legit?
Not Instagram-worthy. Not 'elevated.' Legit. Does it taste like someone gave a damn? Would I order it again? Would I drive back just for it? That's the bar.

Is the experience real?
Atmosphere matters. So does the vibe, the staff, the crowd. A great meal in a soulless room is still a miss. I'm looking for places that feel like somewhere, not everywhere.

Would I send a friend?
The final gut check. If my best friend asked me where to go this weekend, would this place make the list? If the answer is no, it doesn't make the cut here either.
